What is Proposition 65?

California's Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, requires businesses to provide clear and reasonable warnings before knowingly exposing anyone to chemicals that are listed by the State of California as known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The Proposition 65 list currently contains over 900 chemicals. These chemicals can be found in many everyday products, including automotive parts and accessories.

Why Does This Apply to Automotive Parts?

Many automotive parts and accessories — including but not limited to engine components, brake parts, exhaust systems, lubricants, fluids, rubber hoses, and electrical components — may contain or produce chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, such as:

• Lead — found in some metal components, solder, and battery parts
• Benzene — present in fuels, lubricants, and exhaust emissions
• Phthalates — used in rubber and plastic components
• Nickel and chromium compounds — found in metal alloys and plated parts
• Carbon monoxide and engine exhaust — produced during vehicle operation

What Does This Mean for You?

If you are a California resident or if you use our products in California, you may be exposed to one or more of these listed chemicals. We provide this warning so you can make informed decisions about the products you purchase and how you handle them.

We recommend the following precautions when handling automotive parts:

• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling parts, especially before eating or drinking
• Work in a well-ventilated area when installing or servicing parts
• Wear appropriate protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection
• Dispose of used fluids and parts in accordance with local regulations
